When I first started attending Winnipeg Centre's monthly meetings nearly 5 years ago, I didn't know what to expect, but very quickly came to recognize that the sense of community that I look forward to every time I get together with members of the club can be seen, heard and felt throughout every aspect of our chapter, the Winnipeg Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.   From the monthly club meetings, to the after meeting gatherings, star parties, member observing nights, sidewalk astronomy events, and ad hoc gatherings (whether astronomy related or not) all over our wonderful province.

As we race towards the fall season, which is always busy for our club, what with the bulk of the membership coming to monthly meetings, and encouraging newly interested members of the public to join, it is critical that we remember that this sense of community is what makes the Winnipeg Centre so special and dear to each and every one of us.

For many members of the public, our website may just be the first glimpse they get of our community, but it is my gut feel, that we're not completely portraying the camaraderie we all hold so dear, as well as we could.

I'd love to hear your ideas on how we can collectively evolve our online home from a relatively static web presence, to a thriving community site that accurately portrays the camaraderie that exists in everything we do.
