Members of the Winnipeg Centre of the RASC receive many benefits, both from our Centre and the National Office, which are listed below.
National Benefits:
- A subscription to the new Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. This magazine-style bulletin will contain the latest news in astronomy in Canada, both amateur and professional.
- A copy of the annual Observer's Handbook, the reference for astronomers.
- Access to the National library in Toronto.
- RASC members will also receive the excellent publication SkyNews, published by the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa.
Winnipeg Centre benefits:
- Access to the Glenlea Observatory, housing a 12" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, a computer, and various accessories.
- Access to the Centre Library, which contains hundreds of astronomy books and resources.
- "Loaner" telescope privileges for the 3" refractor, 6" reflector, and an 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
- A subscription to Winnicentrics, the newsletter of the Winnipeg Centre.
- Access to the combined experience of over 60 local amateur astronomers, who have experience in all facets of the hobby of astronomy.
- Access to all group functions, such as meetings, observing sessions, and special events.
- Monthly meetings which discuss, instruct in, and explore one of the many facets of astronomy and sample the sky's evening offerings if weather permits.
